For decades new businesses have been known to fail in their first few years of business. Likewise, freelancers depending on these businesses for work have had more than their share of ups and downs. Consider professional freelance journalists for example. Once a very lucrative endeavor, these seasoned professionals are now facing fierce competition.

One segment within the freelance writers community that has had a profound effect are the WAHMs; entrepreneurs who work from home and integrate parenting into their business activities. What is the driving force behind their success? Pride, perseverance and desire!

There are others that have left the 9 to 5 treadmill for one reason or another. Aside from the occasional lotto winner, most that have left could use a little passive residual income themselves. Other less popular acronyms come to mind—WAHD (work at home dad) and WAHP (work at home parent). Hey, why not just simplify things with WAHP (work at home people).
